***Welcome to December!! 4:55 AM update with Lake Effect snow ongoing with an additional 20 inches by this evening! The Long Island forecast and an update on the storm to the north for Wednesday...

... night into Thursday followed by an Arctic blast, and is there a potential clipper for next weekend?***

- The HRRR is showing the potential for as much as 20 to 26 inches of additional snow off Lake Ontario by 8 PM!

- It's a cold week ahead for Long island and the northeast with a bit of a warm-up ahead of the northern system for Wednesday evening into Thursday with just rain showers likely for Long Island and increasing snow amounts as you head north, especially up in Maine as the storm strengthens.

- Arctic air comes in behind the storm with very windy conditions on Thursday into Friday morning. Dangerous wind chills up north, especially in the mountains, for Friday night through Saturday morning.

- Some of the models and ensembles are showing a potential clipper system for next weekend that could strengthen as it heads offshore. Not expecting much, but will be watching it.

- Then there should be a warmer system for the following Tues/Wed with rain for Long Island and maybe snow up north, but it's a long way out.

- The cold air will relax as we get closer to mid-month.
