- The NOAA NWS National Hurricane Center is still at a 40% chance of tropical development for Invest 94L within the next 7 days, and that seems about right to me as the signals are not strong for it. It could become a Tropical Storm at the end of the week or this weekend and generally travel slightly north of Puerto Rico. It could get close to the Dominican Republic and the southeastern Bahamas and then potentially turn sharply northward, although there are still a few ensemble members that have it travel southwestward towards Central America. Zero of the 50 Euro ensemble members have it get near Florida as they will be protected by the strong ridge of high pressure. There is also the slight chance for the western Caribbean system to form and head towards Central America, but the NHC hasn't even marked it as a spot to watch.
- As for Long Island, it will be mild today and become very windy in the afternoon and turn sharply chillier in the late afternoon to early evening. If you're going to Game 1 tonight at Yankee Stadium, dress very warmly as temperatures will drop into the 40's with wind gusts up to 35 mph. Breezy and chilly conditions will remain tomorrow and Wednesday, and then the wind will be lighter on Thursday and then by Friday afternoon it starts warming up. High pressure will bring beautiful weather late this week into early/mid next week at least with sunny skies, light winds, and warm afternoons with no rain in sight.
