***Update on Kirk, Leslie, and potential Milton for Florida with a chance for Nadine and Oscar around mid-month, and also the Long Island forecast with cool weather next week behind the cold front/ rain Monday morning.***
- Major Hurricane Kirk likely peaked as nearly a Cat 5 last night as satellite intensity estimates show. It's still a 934 mb, 145 mph (gusts to 170 mph) Cat 4 monster. It will head towards the UK and northern France as a strong extratropical storm.
- Leslie is likely to peak as a Cat 2 hurricane status early next week, but it will safely curve north and not affect the northeastern Caribbean islands, Bermuda, or Nova Scotia.
- There is a slowly increasing chance again for Tropical/Subtropical Storm Milton in the Gulf with a potential landfall around southern/central Florida around the middle of next week. The potential is there for max rainfall amounts of over 12 inches next week, but stay tuned this weekend to see how this evolves.
- There are some Euro ensemble members showing the potential for another named storm way out in the Atlantic around mid-month, but it curve north early. There is also another slight chance for another storm to form in the western Caribbean or southern Gulf. If Milton forms next week, the next 2 names on the list would then be Nadine and Oscar.
- After an early morning shower chance tomorrow, warm weather for Long Island tomorrow with highs in the mid 70's. A beautiful Sunday ahead with high clouds increasing by early evening ahead of a strong cold front that will bring some rain Monday morning (see last image for map at 5 AM Monday). Much cooler weather for the middle of next week with lows generally in the upper 40's and highs in the low to mid 60's.
