- An amazing storm still in progress as it retrogrades inland. There was even some wet snow on Long Island last night. Also, some areas on Long Island had up to 2.5 inches of rain! The storm will weaken a bit and get captured by the upper-level low and eventually pull away tomorrow with strong winds from the WNW/NW tomorrow behind the storm.
- The next feature is a cold front with the main storm well to the north, so it will be mild ahead of it with some showers Monday night into Tuesday morning swinging through the northeast. Very mild on Tuesday as the colder air won't arrive until night. Chilly and dry on Wednesday for travel plans.
- Regarding Thanksgiving and Black Friday, yes, there is a pretty good chance for some kind of system. The main models are all over the place with the GFS not having much, the Canadian having a good storm, and the Euro having mostly a weaker system. At this range though, you have to look at the ensembles, and there is a good signal for the storm on the Euro ensembles. As of now, the best chances for a snowstorm are for interior central to northern areas of the northeast. This will gradually come into focus this weekend into early next week, so stay tuned as I will update as often as I can with the latest information.
- Much colder for the first week of December, and it looks like potential systems around December 2nd and December 6th, but much too early for any specifics.
- Once we get beyond the storm today, I can start posting the Model Blend snow map through next week, so you can get a better idea for the areas with snow potential.
