- First we have the system for later today and tonight with some snow for northern areas of the northeast (4th image is for 9 PM) with the cold front coming through later tonight, so it will be windy tomorrow and becoming very cold tomorrow night.
- The cold air for tomorrow night into Wednesday sets the stage for potentially significant inland icing late Wednesday night into Thursday before changing to rain (see 5th and 6th images). For Long Island, it could be a few hours of snow and then sleet and then rain with some minor accumulations possible with higher accumulations in New England before changing over.
- Cold air then comes in once again for Friday into Saturday, which sets the stage for the next system. It looks like a similar look to the Thursday system, but a little more snow before changing over, and northern New England should stay all snow, but stay tuned. There is the potential for 1 to 3 inches of snow on Long Island Saturday afternoon into evening before changing to sleet and then rain with more snow as you head north in New England.
- Even colder air then comes in early next week before the next system arrives with the potential for a snowstorm for the middle of next week with cold air likely lasting through President's Day weekend.
