***Cold, windy, and dry with big Lake Effect snow and very strong high pressure for the northeast and then milder with showers early next week, and then a very interesting pattern for December 19th...

... to 25th, especially from the Euro, with colder air and multiple systems.***

- While the wind was lower than expected on Long Island yesterday due to the low-level jet being farther east, there was still a 51 mph gust at Farmingdale airport. The rain was impressive, especially east with over 4 inches at Montauk! Also, over 4 inches in Rhode Island with wind gusts of 55 to 65 mph in southeastern New England.

- Cold and windy today behind the storm and then even colder tomorrow and tomorrow night. Up to 2 feet of Lake Effect snow over the next few days. Very strong high pressure over New England on Saturday will be near-record strength for December and should be around 1049 mb. This will lead to blue skies and calm conditions with the cold weather continuing.

- It warms up early next week with some showers on Monday and then again on Tuesday as a cold front comes through.

- The models diverge for late next week and next weekend as the Euro is colder with storms for next Thursday and next Saturday, and the GFS has rain from a storm next Friday morning and then basically dry and much colder. Stay tuned!!
