4:30 AM update with the Long Island forecast and an active pattern in the northeast this week ahead of the Arctic blast from Saturday night into Christmas Eve morning and then a warm-up:

Writer: My Personal Weatherman™My Personal Weatherman™

- We currently have the rain on Long Island with ice and snow just to the north, so be careful out there.

- The cold front moves through tonight with more rain and it will clear out early Tuesday morning and it will still be very mild on Long Island with highs in the upper 50's.

- The next system moves in quickly Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday night. The Euro is farther south with the snow in New England than the GFS, so I included the middle ground map from the ICON in the 2nd image.

- Still some uncertainty for Friday afternoon into Saturday morning as a clipper comes down and low pressure forms well offshore, but there could be some snow showers for parts of eastern New England and Long Island, and there are still a bunch of Euro ensemble members that have the storm closer to northeastern New England (3rd image) with bigger snow, but that's only a low chance right now. Will be watching it.

- While it will be colder on Friday and even a little colder on Saturday, the true Arctic blast is Saturday night and basically lasts until the morning of Christmas Eve. Check out the projected wind chill temperatures for early Sunday morning in the 4th image with them way below zero for almost everywhere in the northeast and around zero probably for Long Island. Even actual temperatures on Sunday likely only peak in the low 20's on Long Island.

- A bit milder on Christmas and will be watching for a chance of unsettled weather later in the day or at night.

- Then a much milder period likely through New Year's Day. Let's see how it evolves.
