- There was a magnitude 3.9 earthquake near North Hollywood last night.
- Extremely critical fire weather today into tonight for eastern New Mexico and western Texas (see 2nd image).
- The big storm will bring all kinds of hazards with it to a good portion of the country with severe weather (including strong tornadoes) down south, snow on the northwestern side generally from Iowa into parts of Minnesota, Wisconsin, and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, heavy rain with the cold front in the northeast, and wind gusts of 40 to 65 mph for a large area of the country. While a secondary storm will develop along the central to northern New England coast, it probably won't bring much snow to norther New England, but it will enhance the wind for Thursday night into Friday in the northeast. Please see all maps below for more info.
- A very weak system slides through southern to central areas of the northeast Friday night into Saturday morning with some light rain and snow showers possible.
- Any potential storm for Sunday afternoon into Sunday night stays WELL south of the northeast.
- Temperatures this weekend will generally be close to normal and then a big warm-up again next week. Wednesday could be the pick of next week with temperatures possibly getting to around 60 degrees for NYC. While next Thursday will also be very mild, the next system will probably arrive around then.
